“I wanted to choose a subject that would capture both my creativity and passion - The Cowboy. Having grown up in Texas and never identifying with the hyper masculine image of this western hero, I wanted to explore the softer side of this famous American style icon. Paying homage to my Texas roots I pursued various avenues of research.

By introducing a more delicate aesthetic to this cultural icon, I was able to develop designs and details that allowed me to reference the cowboy without being too literal. This is where YKK’s support proved invaluable. One of main details that I wanted to develop was the replacement of the traditional leather fringe with double ended YKK zips and decorative pull-tabs. The selection of fastenings that YKK provide me allowed my designs to be completed without compromise. These professional touches added a level of luxury and detailing to my collection that would have otherwise been impossible with a graduate collection.
