YKK South Africa sponsored Tina Atiemo at the inaugural showing of Arise Africa Fashion Week in Johannesburg. Her Spring/Summer collection entitled “New Day” fused wax prints, coloured cowry shells beaded with a combination of swarovski crystals, satin ribbons, silks, cottons & satin crepes and brocade fabrics. YKK zippers added luxurious details, transforming her designs through the creative usage of their functionality.

Tina’s clever use of concealed zippers was the key protagonist for Tina’s finale. Taking inspiration from The FIFA Confederation Cup held in conjunction with Arise Africa Fashion week, Tina Atiemo produced a showpiece “flag dress”. This outfit was worn by the face of Vivienne Westwood and Arise Model of the year, Ajuma from Kenya.
