Elliot Atkinson - ‘Galore’
My latest collection is made up of references from my childhood and teenage years. It represents a perverse look at luxury shaped by the girl next door. She was an estate girl through and through. Bomber jackets, Barbie and catalogue clothes. Her luxury was my luxury; tough, sexy and very modern.
In this collection fabrics are manipulated and contorted, utilizing slashing and paneling pattern cutting techniques. This is 1990’s fashion and culture stripped right down to the bone. Only a skeletal structure remains, revealing her perfect anatomy.
The backbone is represented by luxurious Excella Zippers courtesy of YKK. These beautiful zippers run down the centre back of all the dresses and tops. These metallic spines accentuate the juxtaposition between hard material and soft light fabrics that make up this collection; tough femininity running through its core.
